The Riviera Maya, also known as the Mayan Riviera, is a tourism district following the coastal Highway 307 which parallels the Caribbean coastline of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located on the eastern portion of the Yucatán Peninsula, and an incredibly popular touristic destination that millions of people from all around the World visit every year.

This district historically started at the city of Playa del Carmen and ended at the village of Tulum, although the towns of Puerto Morelos as well as the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto are both currently being promoted as part of the Riviera Maya tourist corridor.

A major attraction throughout the Riviera Maya is the variety of coastal activities dependent on the Caribbean Sea and the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System which begins near Cancun and continues along the whole length of the Riviera Maya to Guatemala. This barrier reef system is the second longest in the world.

The Mexican Government is actively developing the area for tourism. Government development plans include establishing a number of medium sized cities of ~200 000 inhabitants within the Riviera Maya with initial planning spanning 20 years.

These initiatives have fueled a thriving Real Estate and Vacation Rentals market in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya that is unrivaled anywhere else in Mexico or the rest of Latin America.

These plans are well underway. The Riviera Maya is the center of tourism for Mexico and the government is backing it fully. Improvements to airports, highways, towns and cities can be seen year after year. Cancún Airport (CUN) is the 2nd largest airport in the country after Mexico City. These improvements make the Riviera Maya a smart place to invest in Real Estate in Mexico.

Thanks to this ever-growing flow of tourists in the area, many industries in the Mexican Caribbean are even growing at a much faster rate than the rest of the Mexican economy, which is also growing in a stable manner year after year, making Mexico one of the top investment hubs in the Americas.

The Mexican Riviera is the star of Mexico and many programs are being centered around this area. Mexico is easy and convenient to travel to in a short time from the United States and Canada, making it also a dream come true for retirees looking for a warm place to sit back and watch their capital grow, toes-in-sand, margarita-in-hand.
